Scarce pictorial map of California highlighting one of the state’s great industries.

Details

This pictorial map of the state of California was created by the California Fruit Growers Exchange and illustrated by Cal Rambeau. It maps areas of orange and lemon production, and the headquarters for Sunkist in Los Angeles.

Important buildings and geographic monuments are illustrated as pictographs, including missions at San Diego and Santa Barbara, El Camino Real, the state capitol at Sacramento, Yosemite Valley, Mariposa sequoias and giant redwoods, along with several mountains: Mt. Tamalpais, Mt. Lassen, and Mt. Shasta.

Along the right side of the map are inset images of the stages of production from budding to packing for market, as well as an informational set discussing the “Botanical Characteristics” of featured citrus fruits.

OCLC lists only one institutional holding, at the University of Kansas.
