A panoramic view of San Francisco with graphic key to identify landmarks.

Details

This unusual graphic composition combines a lovely nighttime panoramic photograph by Bill Harris with a well-designed key illustrated by Bob Souhrada. The view looks down Market St. and stretches from Pacific Heights and Angel Island across the lighted skyline of downtown San Francisco south to the Dogpatch. The East Bay extends across the background from Oakland/Alameda and Mt. Diablo north past Berkeley to Richmond and beyond.

This is the city as it was in the late 1970s, much of it the same from this high-up perspective really, with notable exceptions being the existence of the Hayes Valley Freeway, and the non-existence of Salesforce Tower.
