First edition of this attractive, detailed, and rather unusual map of most of North America, with California an island resting off the west coast of North America.

McLaughlin notes that “California as an island with indented northern coast. Annian, Straits of Annian, and The North Straits to north.”

Issued on p.152 of part 2 of Moll’s A System of Geography, 1701, in the chapter Northern America and the Arctick Countries.
