Description

Compelling thematic chart of the Philippine archipelago mapping the events of the WWII Philippine Campaign, codenamed Operation Musketeer I, II, and III. The overall achievement of the map is to create a visual narrative of U.S. operations during the course of the campaign, including amphibious landings marked by broad arrows that are linked to troop numbers. These landings, along with internal movements, are color coded; blue arrows correspond to the Eighth Army, and green arrows detail the operations of the Sixth Army.

Parachutes, also color-coded, plot airborne landings throughout the islands. The map was compiled by Sgt. James E Applegate and designed by Sgt. Clyde J Singer.
