The J. P. Massie Company was an active real estate and land-promotion firm based in San Francisco in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, specializing in subdividing and selling large ranch properties in the North Bay, particularly Marin and Sonoma Counties. The company operated during a period of rapid regional growth, when improved rail links and new agricultural markets made formerly rural holdings attractive for small-scale farming, dairying, and suburban homesteads.
Though not as large as the major metropolitan real-estate syndicates of the era, the J. P. Massie Company was part of the wave of firms that helped reshape the agricultural and suburban landscape of the North Bay before World War I.
