Jack Paul Miller is a Burbank-based artist and commercial illustrator trained at California State University, Northridge, and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Working in the pictorial map tradition through the 1970s and 1980s, he produced promotional city maps combining comic-strip energy with precise civic geography. His 1981 map of Beautiful Downtown Burbank — commissioned by the Greater Burbank Visitors Guide and endorsed by Johnny Carson — is his best-known work. Miller has continued to live and work in Burbank, where he has long taught drawing and ceramics at the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center.
