Luiz Felipe de Almeida Couceiro

Luiz Felipe de Almeida Couceiro (1851-1913) was a Portuguese draftsman and mapmaker active during the late 19th and early 20th century. In 1882, he joined the Cartography Commission in Cape Verde, working closely with Navy officers Joaquim Nunes da Silva and Luís António Aprá. During the 1880s and early 1890s, he worked as a mine driver in the Civil Engineering Corps auxiliary cadre within Portugal’s Directorate of Geodetic Works. 1896, he was transferred to the Ministry of Public Works, Commerce, and Industry. While working for the ministry, he served on the Cartography Commission on the island of São Tomé in 1891, under the coordination of A. Briesemeister.
