Description

Very decorative, informative map of Madagascar. The map is filled with buildings, animals, figures and two locals in their typical dress.

In lower left corner is “Imprimé en France” with a monogram of the publisher “BD.” The map carries a printed signature of the French illustrator who is only know by his pseudonym “Jylbert.”

The vivid color has been acheived through an interesting combination of the chromolithographic engraving and pochoir (stencil).
