Aō Tōkei

Aō Tōkei (青生東谿; 1764 – 1838) was a Japanese geographer of the late Edo period. Born and based in Nagoya, Aō came from a wealthy family of medicine merchants. The source of his interests and training, if any, in geography are unclear, but his is best known for publishing a two-volume atlas of Japan (國郡全圖), first published in 1828.
